So, You Moved to Brevard?

Florida has seen an influx of new residents in the last decade, and especially in the last year. One news source has estimated that as many as 950 people are moving to Florida each day. If you are lucky enough to have found the treasure that is Brevard County and the Space Coast, welcome! You should know that Florida has generous public records laws, and several records and resources are online.  This is our list of favorite resources for new and returning businesses in Brevard County, Florida.

The Top 10 Websites You Need to Know

As a property owner and resident of Brevard County Florida, check out this list:

  1. Brevard County Government – This is the first step to finding county services and resources. This is a great start for finding parks, libraries, and more.
  2. Brevard County Clerk of Courts – The clerk allows you to search official records back to 1981.
  3. Brevard County Supervisor of Elections – If you are establishing residency in Brevard, you can register to vote and learn about upcoming elections from our supervisor of elections. Hint: It is important to know that Florida has closed primaries. If you don’t register for a political party, you will miss out on many important primary elections.
  4. Brevard County Property Appraisers Office – This detailed database allows you to search your own property records or those you might be interested in.
  5. Brevard Electronic Court Application – If you ever find yourself in Brevard Courts, and we hope you do not, this site offers a basic public court records search which can answer some of your basic questions. If you need more information than what is available here, it may be time to consult an attorney.
  6. Florida Bar – if you need an attorney, you can search the Florida Bar database here through the “Find a Lawyer” button. Hint: It is a quick and easy way to check the disciplinary record of an attorney before you hire them.
  7. Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation – If you have a new house and are looking for a contractor or want the verify the license of any professional (health care professionals, accountants, etc) in Florida, this site allows you to verify the professionals you work with. Hint:  Always ask for proof of insurance too!
  8. Florida Division of Corporations also known as Sunbiz – If you want to move or register your existing business or want to start a new business, this the first step.   9. Florida Today is our local traditional newspaper. They have both print and digital subscription options, and you will need a subscription for some content. They are a great way to keep up with the upcoming launch schedule.
  10. EverythingBrevard.com is a wonderful source for events in the community for locals. They maintain an exhaustive area calendar to suit everyone’s interests.  They also have frequent features on what local businesses are doing to make Brevard County even stronger.
